Peel back the layers

“My passion is the body, I have always been fascinated by it even as a tiny kid (although I’m not much bigger now). My studies around massage, anatomy and yoga have shifted and changed bringing me now to a point where my focus is giving agency to those who are learning. I am finally delving into the world of teaching anatomy.”

Sophie has been teaching hatha yoga since 2012, having been introduced to yoga in 1999, her knowledge and understanding of it and its value has shifted and changed over the years. As she came to yoga at young age she started from a very much physical point of view, but realising the emotional support it gave her, as well the strength to face challenges both on and off the mat it has taken her places she didn’t imagine.

She strips back to basics to start, and then for those who want to continue learning, while we go deeper exploring the way we use and move our body. Come learn with Sophie, whether that is just in class, on retreat or on a course. We will look at taking the hardlines of the wonderful old school ‘map’ like learning and combine it with this new shift in anatomy that is leading to us a much more holistic full body understanding, blending those lines into one full being that moves and distorts itself for our own benefit. Through movement, sculpting, collage and of course reading, we can develop our understanding of this complicatedly, beautiful thing we live in.

“I want to always allow time to learn, the more I learn the more I realise how little I know, and this humbles me in a positive way. It lights a fire under me to get moving and turn that desire into something else. I will be studying with the wonderful Karen Kirkness, while I continue developing my own courses. Can’t wait to share and learn from you as well!”
